HEALTH Secretary Alan Johnson has appointed a new chairman for the trust running Ashford and Shepway’s hospitals.
Nicholas Wells now has the job at East Kent Hospitals University NHS Trust (EKHUT) for a fouryear term, covering the William Harvey in Ashford and Royal Victoria in Folkestone.
Mr Wells was vice-chairman of the board and has been acting chairman since last October when his predecessor, George Jenkins, was seconded to Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust.
Mr Wells joined EKHUT in November 2001 and became vicechairman the following year.
His appointment, which runs until September 2012, has a salary of £23,020.
