BBHC 2nds 2, Ash­ford 2nds 6 ASH­FORD 2nds’ sea­son be­gan with a fine win at newly pro­moted BBHC.

Ash­ford started brightly cre­at­ing sev­eral chances while the back line of Crane, Conger­ton and Wicken were com­mand­ing, when the game was halted af­ter two BBHC play­ers col­lided, both need­ing a trip to A&E.

Ash­ford then had to come from be­hind al­most im­me­di­ately re­spond­ing with crisp pass­ing down the left find­ing Jon Stiff who waltzed the de­fend­ers with some fine skills to fire the ball home.

They then had sev­eral close at­tempts with Fox hit­ting the post but their ef­forts were re­warded close to half-time when a cross from Stiff was neatly de­flected by Vincett to find Fox free on the penalty spot to strike.

Ash­ford held the lead go­ing into the sec­ond half thanks to a won­der save from keeper Rob Al­lan, who has made a great come­back af­ter two sea­sons out through in­jury.

Ash­ford piled on the pres­sure in the sec­ond half and Stiff styl- ishly con­vert­ing a penalty cor­ner and John Hell­yar quickly adding a fourth af­ter a stun­ning pass from Star­ley cut the de­fence open al­low­ing Galvin to find Hell­yar free on the back post.

Al­though BBHC added their sec­ond Ash­ford again re­sponded well and quickly re-es­tab­lished their three-goal ad­van­tage when man of the match James Spain set up Fox for his sec­ond.

Ash­ford rounded off with a goal for Vincett af­ter good build up play al­lowed Davis to find him free in the D to squeeze the ball un­der the keeper.

Ash­ford 3rds 4, Folke­stone 3rds 0 ASH­FORD 3rds started their league sea­son with a con­fi­dent win over Folke­stone.

Ash­ford started brightly and took con­trol of the game early on with Kevin Miller get­ting the break­through fol­low­ing a mazy run which he fin­ished well.

Dave Bulgin, Dave Jake­man, Tony Spain and Andy Burwell en­sured Folke­stone’s chances were lim­ited and keeper Andy Wood­ward pro­duced a bril­liant re­flex save to pre­vent the vis­i­tors with their only real shot on goal.

Tony Spain and Alex New­ton then linked well to set up Vet­eran Gary Sut­ton who fin­ished con­fi­dently putting Ash­ford 2-0 up at the break.

Af­ter nu­mer­ous op­por­tu­ni­ties were spurned Ash­ford got their third when Greg Har­ri­son and Wise teamed up to give Sut­ton his sec­ond tap in of the game.

The home side com­pleted the rout when hard work­ing Clif­ford gained pos­ses­sion and set up Sut­ton to com­plete his hat-trick with a sharp spin and shot which sneaked it at the far post.

Cliftonville 3rds 0, Ash­ford 5ths 3 ASH­FORD 5ths com­pleted their pre-sea­son with a com­pre­hen­sive win.

Shortly af­ter half-time, Matt Carter thrashed home a short cor­ner to give Ash­ford the lead. Good work by young keeper Josh Mor­ris pre­served Ash­ford’s lead and a fine length of the pitch move by Ash­ford re­sulted in Dan Rose set­ting up Carter’s sec­ond.

Ash­ford forced an­other short cor­ner which Carter con­verted for his hat-trick.
