‘We need to cut out errors’ - Lovell
ASHFORD Town manager Steve Lovell has called on his side to perform as a collective and cut out the individual mistakes that continue to affect their results, after the Nuts and Bolts lost 5-3 at Great Wakering Rovers in the FA Trophy on Saturday.
“We have an individual defensive problem,” Lovell admitted. “A pattern has emerged in that we have a lot of the play, create plenty of chances, score goals but then gift the opposition goals.
“We can’t legislate for individual defensive errors, but we can work on it collectively, and that’s what we are doing this week in preparation for the weekend.” Ashford travel to second placed Cray Wanderers on Saturday, before taking on Lovell’s old team Sittingbourne at Homelands on Tuesday.
“Individually we have one of the best squads in the league,” Lovell said. “We’ve just got to start putting it together collectively.
“Expectations are high at the club, but our start hasn’t been too bad. We are in a decent position and we’ve just got to try and push forward.”
Jimmy Bottle is the only absentee for this weekend as he continues his recovery from a head injury.
