Dancers step up in ballet world
TEN students from Tenterden Ballet Studios have been selected by English Youth Ballet to be among 80 talented young dancers to perform a new production of Giselle in the White Rock Pavilion at Hastings next month. The young dancers will be working hard at weekends and the half-term holiday for up to six hours a day preparing for three performances of the lavish ballet. Dominic Marshall, senior choreographer, together with the principal artists with the ballet company will choreograph and rehearse the youngsters. Taking part will be Alice Rourke, 13, who attends Ashford School; Megan Luker, 12, Daisy Tait, 15 and Marrianne Edwards, 14, from Highworth Grammar School, Ashford and James Carroll, 12, from Norton Knatchbull School, Ashford. They will be joined by Charlotte Roberts, 11, Lilian Purchase, 14, and Stephanie Poyton, 16, from Homewood School, Tenterden and Rowan Fenton and Oliver Tushingham, both nine, from Woodchurch Primary School.
