Dancers step up in bal­let world

TEN stu­dents from Ten­ter­den Bal­let Stu­dios have been se­lected by English Youth Bal­let to be among 80 tal­ented young dancers to per­form a new pro­duc­tion of Giselle in the White Rock Pavil­ion at Hast­ings next month. The young dancers will be work­ing hard at week­ends and the half-term hol­i­day for up to six hours a day pre­par­ing for three per­for­mances of the lav­ish bal­let. Do­minic Mar­shall, se­nior chore­og­ra­pher, to­gether with the prin­ci­pal artists with the bal­let com­pany will chore­o­graph and re­hearse the youngsters. Tak­ing part will be Alice Rourke, 13, who at­tends Ash­ford School; Me­gan Luker, 12, Daisy Tait, 15 and Mar­ri­anne Ed­wards, 14, from High­worth Gram­mar School, Ash­ford and James Car­roll, 12, from Nor­ton Knatch­bull School, Ash­ford. They will be joined by Char­lotte Roberts, 11, Lil­ian Pur­chase, 14, and Stephanie Poy­ton, 16, from Home­wood School, Ten­ter­den and Rowan Fenton and Oliver Tush­ing­ham, both nine, from Wood­church Pri­mary School.
