So near and yet so far in final

A TEACHER narrowly missed getting the top award in a national final.

Nathalie Hockey, of Brook Primary School, was pipped at the post for a Primary Language Teacher of the Year.

But she did not walk away emptyhanded as one of only four finalists in the national competition.

The award was by publishers Scholas- tic UK and La Jolie Ronde, a language tuition supplier.

Her prizes included a framed certificate, £500 of La Jolie Ronde resources and £200 of Scholastic books.

The presentation ceremony was at the Houses of Parliament and Mrs Hockey received her prize from judges’ chairman Geoff Swinn.
