EVERY seat was full for the final service at South Willesborough Methodist Church in Cudworth Road on Sunday. Opened in 1888, it used to boast the largest Sunday school in Kent with 200 children, but over the years the congregation has dwindled until only a handful of worshippers attended regularly, forcing its closure. The last service – to a congregation with several former members from as far as Devon and Oxford – was led by Superintendent Minister the Rev Richard Grocott and Deacon Phyllis King, Among those attending was church steward Elsie Wood, 84, who has been a regular at services in the church for 78 years.
