High in the pecking order
THE village of Godmersham will find itself in the national spotlight at the launch of the RSPB’s Feed the Birds day.
Andre Farrar, the society’s media relations manager, will be delivering the Friends of Godmersham Church lecture next week.
He will be highlighting the importance of Kent’s wildlife sites and explain how ordinary gardens can attract a wide range of birds.
Mr Farrar, who was born in Godmersham and still has a house in the village, is hoping to stimulate interest in the area, which could lead to Godmersham being adopted as the RSPB’s Homes for Wildlife village.
If this goes ahead, Godmersham could feature on television nature programmes including the BBC’s popular Springwatch.
Mr Farrar said: “If we can make a difference in one garden, just imagine what a whole village can do.”
His illustrated talk is taking place at Godmersham Church on Friday, October 24, at 7.30pm – the evening before Feed the Birds day.
Tickets available from Tim George on 01227 730527 or Fiona Sunley 01227 731153.
