A novel ap­proach to read­ing week

MORE than 300 pupils ar­rived at Ham­street Pri­mary School dressed as their favourite book char­ac­ters on Fri­day.

The event formed part of the school’s an­nual read­ing week, which aims to en­cour­age and cel­e­brate read­ing.

The cho­sen char­ac­ters ranged from Dr Seuss’s Cat in the Hat to Thomas the Tank En­gine and Harry Pot­ter.

Dur­ing the week the school also in­tro­duced a Read­ing At­tack, where ev­ery child re­ceived a one-to-one read­ing ses­sion.
