Moat’s haul of medals

CAS­TLE Moat and Folke­stone Bow­men were well rep­re­sented at the Sylvia Hog­bin memo­rial shoot at Rams­gate on Sun­day. A team of 17 archers par­tic­i­pated with an over­all turn-out of 61 com­peti­tors. In su­perb weather, West­ern rounds were shot and the tour­na­ment was de­cided on hand­i­caps. Al­lowances were added to scores with Moat’s archers very suc­cess­ful in com­ing away with four medals. In the ladies’ round, Es­ther Har­man came first with 1,600 and Mar­garet Plow­man sec­ond on 1,534. In the men’s sec­tion, Dave McKnight notched up 1,518 for a first place and was fol­lowed by Ian Barnes on 1,503. Al­lan Plow­man put up Moat’s best per­for­mance on ac­tual scores with 838 for a com­pound bow round. In­cluded was five six gold ends.
