Moat’s haul of medals
CASTLE Moat and Folkestone Bowmen were well represented at the Sylvia Hogbin memorial shoot at Ramsgate on Sunday. A team of 17 archers participated with an overall turn-out of 61 competitors. In superb weather, Western rounds were shot and the tournament was decided on handicaps. Allowances were added to scores with Moat’s archers very successful in coming away with four medals. In the ladies’ round, Esther Harman came first with 1,600 and Margaret Plowman second on 1,534. In the men’s section, Dave McKnight notched up 1,518 for a first place and was followed by Ian Barnes on 1,503. Allan Plowman put up Moat’s best performance on actual scores with 838 for a compound bow round. Included was five six gold ends.
