Etch­inghill are crowned cham­pi­ons af­ter play-off

THE Ju­nior East Kent League fi­nals were held at Ash­ford Golf Club with over­all cham­pi­ons be­ing Etch­inghill, who beat Lit­tle­stone 3 1/2 and 2 1/2 in the play-off.

The re­serve-league needed a three-way play-off be­tween Etch­inghill, Lit­tle­stone and Ash­ford who even­tu­ally emerged as win­ners.

The East Kent League jam­boree event was hosted by Walmer and Kings­down, in which the top five scor­ers counted.

It was again Etch­inghill who lifted the cov­eted prize fol­lowed closely by arch ri­vals Lit­tle­stone and Ash­ford.

D.J. Ben­nett (Ash­ford) en­joyed a mem­o­rable day in the in­di­vid­ual event, claim­ing sec­ond spot with 41 points and be­ing beaten only on count­back.

Etch­inghill also reached the se­nior KO fi­nal go­ing down 3-2 to Ch­est­field.

There were wins for B. Jones/P. Hawkins and P. Billings/T. Hay while the los­ing pair­ings were D. Gil­bent/M. Bris­tow, K. Saun­ders/E. Brown and T. Thomp­son/C. Lock.

The League Jam­boree is on Satur­day which will also fea­ture the league pre­sen­ta­tions
