THE SHOCK of the day in the Bod­kin Cup came when Divi­sion Two side The Cru­sader de­feated Premier Divi­sion side Ash­ford Cava­liers 5-3.

Cru­sader, 4-1 up at one stage, had to weather a Cava­liers’ come­back to 4-3 be­fore scor­ing again late on. On tar­get for Cru were Aly Ay­din with a hat-trick, one from Hage Ay­din and Mitchell Clark; Steve Abbs with a brace and one from Nick Rowe for Cava­liers.

Bliby were far too strong for The Al­bion, run­ning out 10-1 win­ners. Sec­ond-half sub James Pearcy net­ted a hat-trick, Harry Hre­horow with a brace and one each from James Bar­tolomew, Richard Boor­man, Danny Daw­son, Tommy Burns and Joe Valer. Kevin Quinn replied for the pub side.

Grasshop­pers put out fel­low Divi­sion Two side Ash­ford Ea­gles 5-1, Gary Web­ster on tar­get with a hat-trick, and one each for Mark Wel­sted and Matt Har­ris, with Dale Wright re­ply­ing for Ea­gles.

Premier Divi­sion Troggs proved too strong for Divi­sion Two neigh­bours Eger­ton, win­ning7-1. Tommy Carl­ton hit a hat-trick, Richard Moon proved the penalty king with two from the spot with one each for Paul New­man and Si­mon Eels. Josh Con­lon was the lone striker for Eger­ton.

Mer­sham edged out High­field 5-3, a Rob­bie Clark hat-trick and one each from Luke Stan­ley and Chris Howells; Lloyd De­hara with two and an OG for High­field.

Red Hea­thens got the bet­ter of Churchill Roy­als with a hard­fought 4-2 win, Andy Cher­rett with a brace and one each from Dick Rus­sell and Craig Haynes, Chris Shanny with both Churchill’s goals.

Galac­ti­cos did an 11-0 de­mo­li­tion job on Wye Monar­chs, with striker Steve Rice be­ing the fo­cal point of his team, net­ting seven times; Andy Neal and Adam Hamil­ton weighed in with two apiece.

Ap­ple­dore came out on top in their home game against Ash­ford Dy­namo 2-1. Tyler Clark­son and Paul An­ning for Dors, James Zi­doya for Dy­namo.

Ash­ford Char­ity Tro­phy

Brew­mas­ter made short work of Fox Sun­day, winning 9-3, with Dar­ren Light daz­zling the op­po­nents with five goals, Danny Jen­nings with a brace, one from Mo Alvi and an OG, Ja­son Stratton with two and an OG for Fox.

Premier Divi­sion Cup

Ald­ing­ton prob­a­bly had the bet­ter of their game in the Premier Divi­sion cup match against Brom­ley Green, hit­ting the wood­work sev­eral times, but went out 1-0 to a Tom Pointer goal two min­utes from time.

The one Premier Divi­sion League game played saw Mar­ket Ho­tel lose their 100 per cent record, go­ing down 4-3 away to Ken­ning­ton, who had Steve Ward on tar­get with a cou­ple and one each from Paul Bar­ron and Matt Collins, Dan Cor­nell with two and an OG for Mar­ket.

Divi­sion One

The first team may have lost their per­fect record but Mar­ket Ho­tel Re­serves chalked up their first win of the sea­son, 4-3 away to Char­ing. Mar­ket’s goals be­ing a team ef­fort with Andy De­hara, Joe Ansell, Gary Turner and Dar­rell Bartholomew find­ing the back of the net; Paul Wat­son, Dave Gam­mon and Henry Palmer on tar­get for Char­ing.

Divi­sion Three

A high-scor­ing game saw Ash­ford Vic­to­ria travel to Newchurch and come away winning 6-4, a Wayne Cleave hat-trick; a brace for Shane Jupp and one from Dar­ryl Ge­orge for Vic­to­ria; Lee Jack­man with two and one each from Jamie Mad­docks and Greg Hitch­man for theMarsh­men.

Gi­vau­dan went down 5-0 at home to William Har­vey Inn, who had Mick Pegg on tar­get with two and one each from Alan Ster­ling, Carl An­der­son and an OG. Sha­dox­hurst con­tinue to go well, winning 7-0 at home against Bur­ton Grove, Andy Hone with a hat-trick, two from James Mat­tewes and one each from Stu­art Prior and Paul Fri­day.

The Lo­co­mo­tive Inn went down 3-1 at home to Brew­mas­ter Re­serves, Ja­son Head­eac for Loco, Alan Carl­ton, Danny Trapp and Jim Twycross for Brews. Ald­ing­ton Re­serves won 3-1 away to Troggs Re­serves, Kevin Ruane with goals ei­ther side of half time, and a Chris Link­ins de­flected goal, Mar­cus Pearce re­ply­ing for Troggs from the penalty spot.

Divi­sion Four

Park Farm Rangers con­tinue to set the pace with a 5-2 win over Char­ing Re­serves, Keven Oak­ley and Grant Lang­field with two each and one from Toby Hawkins, John Marchant with both Char­ing’s goals.

Ruckinge United won 4-2 at home against Mer­sham Re­serves, Wayne Dodd, Far­rell Cox, a Gary El­lis penalty and an OG; Lee Kent and Adam Burwell for Mer­sham.

Ash­ford Cava­liers Re­serves made it four out of four with a 5-0 win over Brabourne, Doug Rob­son and Chris Wilkins with two each and one from Si­mon Far­rell.

Ash­ford Spar­tans slipped up at home against Wye Monar­chs Re­serves, go­ing down 4-3 Ben Hearn­den with two and one from Richard Amos, Lee Hughes; Rob­bie Oven­den, Chris Wil­son and Carl Spencer for Wye.

Prince Al­bert and Bliby Re­serves shared the points in a 3-3 draw Roy Mor­ris with two and one from An­drew Millen for Al­bert, JP McDon­agh with a brace and one from Steve Airey for Bliby.
