Cavaliers out of Bodkin Cup
THE SHOCK of the day in the Bodkin Cup came when Division Two side The Crusader defeated Premier Division side Ashford Cavaliers 5-3.
Crusader, 4-1 up at one stage, had to weather a Cavaliers’ comeback to 4-3 before scoring again late on. On target for Cru were Aly Aydin with a hat-trick, one from Hage Aydin and Mitchell Clark; Steve Abbs with a brace and one from Nick Rowe for Cavaliers.
Bliby were far too strong for The Albion, running out 10-1 winners. Second-half sub James Pearcy netted a hat-trick, Harry Hrehorow with a brace and one each from James Bartolomew, Richard Boorman, Danny Dawson, Tommy Burns and Joe Valer. Kevin Quinn replied for the pub side.
Grasshoppers put out fellow Division Two side Ashford Eagles 5-1, Gary Webster on target with a hat-trick, and one each for Mark Welsted and Matt Harris, with Dale Wright replying for Eagles.
Premier Division Troggs proved too strong for Division Two neighbours Egerton, winning7-1. Tommy Carlton hit a hat-trick, Richard Moon proved the penalty king with two from the spot with one each for Paul Newman and Simon Eels. Josh Conlon was the lone striker for Egerton.
Mersham edged out Highfield 5-3, a Robbie Clark hat-trick and one each from Luke Stanley and Chris Howells; Lloyd Dehara with two and an OG for Highfield.
Red Heathens got the better of Churchill Royals with a hardfought 4-2 win, Andy Cherrett with a brace and one each from Dick Russell and Craig Haynes, Chris Shanny with both Churchill’s goals.
Galacticos did an 11-0 demolition job on Wye Monarchs, with striker Steve Rice being the focal point of his team, netting seven times; Andy Neal and Adam Hamilton weighed in with two apiece.
Appledore came out on top in their home game against Ashford Dynamo 2-1. Tyler Clarkson and Paul Anning for Dors, James Zidoya for Dynamo.
Ashford Charity Trophy
Brewmaster made short work of Fox Sunday, winning 9-3, with Darren Light dazzling the opponents with five goals, Danny Jennings with a brace, one from Mo Alvi and an OG, Jason Stratton with two and an OG for Fox.
Premier Division Cup
Aldington probably had the better of their game in the Premier Division cup match against Bromley Green, hitting the woodwork several times, but went out 1-0 to a Tom Pointer goal two minutes from time.
The one Premier Division League game played saw Market Hotel lose their 100 per cent record, going down 4-3 away to Kennington, who had Steve Ward on target with a couple and one each from Paul Barron and Matt Collins, Dan Cornell with two and an OG for Market.
The first team may have lost their perfect record but Market Hotel Reserves chalked up their first win of the season, 4-3 away to Charing. Market’s goals being a team effort with Andy Dehara, Joe Ansell, Gary Turner and Darrell Bartholomew finding the back of the net; Paul Watson, Dave Gammon and Henry Palmer on target for Charing.
A high-scoring game saw Ashford Victoria travel to Newchurch and come away winning 6-4, a Wayne Cleave hat-trick; a brace for Shane Jupp and one from Darryl George for Victoria; Lee Jackman with two and one each from Jamie Maddocks and Greg Hitchman for theMarshmen.
Givaudan went down 5-0 at home to William Harvey Inn, who had Mick Pegg on target with two and one each from Alan Sterling, Carl Anderson and an OG. Shadoxhurst continue to go well, winning 7-0 at home against Burton Grove, Andy Hone with a hat-trick, two from James Mattewes and one each from Stuart Prior and Paul Friday.
The Locomotive Inn went down 3-1 at home to Brewmaster Reserves, Jason Headeac for Loco, Alan Carlton, Danny Trapp and Jim Twycross for Brews. Aldington Reserves won 3-1 away to Troggs Reserves, Kevin Ruane with goals either side of half time, and a Chris Linkins deflected goal, Marcus Pearce replying for Troggs from the penalty spot.
Park Farm Rangers continue to set the pace with a 5-2 win over Charing Reserves, Keven Oakley and Grant Langfield with two each and one from Toby Hawkins, John Marchant with both Charing’s goals.
Ruckinge United won 4-2 at home against Mersham Reserves, Wayne Dodd, Farrell Cox, a Gary Ellis penalty and an OG; Lee Kent and Adam Burwell for Mersham.
Ashford Cavaliers Reserves made it four out of four with a 5-0 win over Brabourne, Doug Robson and Chris Wilkins with two each and one from Simon Farrell.
Ashford Spartans slipped up at home against Wye Monarchs Reserves, going down 4-3 Ben Hearnden with two and one from Richard Amos, Lee Hughes; Robbie Ovenden, Chris Wilson and Carl Spencer for Wye.
Prince Albert and Bliby Reserves shared the points in a 3-3 draw Roy Morris with two and one from Andrew Millen for Albert, JP McDonagh with a brace and one from Steve Airey for Bliby.
