Chance to look at sides

ASHFORD TOWN manager Steve Lovell has put his side’s 1-0 defeat at home to Sittingbourne down to a bad day at the office, and revealed the continuing frustration that his side follow one good performance with a bad one.

“Tuesday was such a contrast from Saturday’s excellent performance at Cray,” Lovell bemoaned. “We didn’t deserve to win against Sittingbourne as our inconsistency came back again.

“It keeps happening and we’ve got to get it out of our system.”

Ashford won’t get the chance this weekend, as their premature exit from the FA Trophy leaves them with a gap in the fixture calendar.

The squad will train on Saturday morning, before Lovell begins a week of Ryman League Division 1 South scouting.

“It’s important to go and watch teams you’ll be playing against,” Lovell explained. “I’ll be going down to watch Fleet and Eastbourne on Saturday. Hugo will be going to another game, and we’ll both be on our travels again next Tuesday.”

High flying Ashford Reserves are at home to Cray Wanderers.
