Apple pie with zest a winner
THE weather was perfect for Wye Farmers’ Market on Saturday with a mini steam engine on the green giving rides to youngsters.
But the big event was the judging of the annual apple pie competition by staff from the village’s Wife of Bath Restaurant.
Winner was Jo Pazowski with a pie infused with lemon zest and a homemade puff pastry top.
She had been up since 6am making her pie but the early morning effort meant it was still warm when judges tasted it.
Market manager Jen Porter said: “I was really pleased that the competition was supported.
“And thank all who took part and especially to the Wife of Bath for helping me judge and providing a prize of a lunch for two.”
