Perry good crop at the fayre

Kentish Express Ashford & District - - Remember When? -

RECORD crowds of more than 2,000 enjoyed the 22nd annual apple fayre at Perry Court, Wye, at the weekend.

Helped by an abundance of rain this year the Fermor family has harvested a bumper crop of quality fruit from their many varieties of juicy apples and pears.

There were also a selection of craft stalls, rural crafts, including spinning organised by Audrey Durrent and children’s rides, providing a host of attractions for the many visitors.

Eleven cooks competed for the apple pie baking title.

The winner, who was judged by Eastwell Manor chefs, was regular entrant Desie Morris, from Ashford.

Heidi Fermor said: “It was a fantastic turnout this year in perfect weather and we raised more than £3,000 for Ashford Pilgrims Hospice.”
