They’ll make sure num­bers add up

VOL­UN­TEERS from Ash­ford’s Tow­ers School will be keep­ing score at the KE Big Quiz.

The event takes place this Satur­day at Folke­stone Sports Cen­tre, Rad­nor Park Av­enue, and vol­un­teers from the school will be keep­ing a tally of teams’ scores on the night.

As­sis­tant head teacher Jan An­grabeit said: “We are proud to be sup­port­ing such a great char­ity event. The scor­ing will be un­der­taken by a mem­ber of staff, as­sisted by two A-level busi­ness stud­ies stu­dents, who will be giv­ing up their own time to help out on the night.”


The school has also do­nated prizes, in­clud­ing a three-course meal for two at Carter’s Restau­rant and a cut and blow dry and man­i­cure and pedi­cure at Carter’s Hair and Beauty Academy, which are both based at the school.

South Kent Col­lege is sup­ply­ing the Big Quiz stage, plus ta­bles and chairs, and Folke­stone’s Har­vey Gram­mar School and Folke­stone School for Girls are also loan­ing ta­bles and chairs.

The Ro­tary Club of Folke­stone will be run­ning the Big Quiz raf- fle. Roger Joyce, ex-Ro­tary Club pres­i­dent, said: “Folke­stone Sports Cen­tre is among one of the many good causes the club helps in the com­mu­nity, so we are es­pe­cially happy to be in­volved.

Goody bag

“We have a ter­rific clutch of prizes to give away on the night and no one will go away empty handed as there will be a goody bag for every­one.”

Pro­ceeds raised on the night will be di­vided four ways with chil­dren’s road safety char­ity Kent Walk­ing Bus, south Kent cause Find a Voice and Folke­stone Sports Cen­tre Trust Friends all re­ceiv­ing a quar­ter share of pro­ceeds.

The civic char­i­ties from Ash­ford and Shep­way will share the re­main­der.

Other spon­sors of the Big Quiz are County Square shop­ping cen­tre, P&O Fer­ries and Shep­herd Neame who will or­gan­ise the char­ity Spit­fire bar.
