They’ll make sure numbers add up
VOLUNTEERS from Ashford’s Towers School will be keeping score at the KE Big Quiz.
The event takes place this Saturday at Folkestone Sports Centre, Radnor Park Avenue, and volunteers from the school will be keeping a tally of teams’ scores on the night.
Assistant head teacher Jan Angrabeit said: “We are proud to be supporting such a great charity event. The scoring will be undertaken by a member of staff, assisted by two A-level business studies students, who will be giving up their own time to help out on the night.”
The school has also donated prizes, including a three-course meal for two at Carter’s Restaurant and a cut and blow dry and manicure and pedicure at Carter’s Hair and Beauty Academy, which are both based at the school.
South Kent College is supplying the Big Quiz stage, plus tables and chairs, and Folkestone’s Harvey Grammar School and Folkestone School for Girls are also loaning tables and chairs.
The Rotary Club of Folkestone will be running the Big Quiz raf- fle. Roger Joyce, ex-Rotary Club president, said: “Folkestone Sports Centre is among one of the many good causes the club helps in the community, so we are especially happy to be involved.
“We have a terrific clutch of prizes to give away on the night and no one will go away empty handed as there will be a goody bag for everyone.”
Proceeds raised on the night will be divided four ways with children’s road safety charity Kent Walking Bus, south Kent cause Find a Voice and Folkestone Sports Centre Trust Friends all receiving a quarter share of proceeds.
The civic charities from Ashford and Shepway will share the remainder.
Other sponsors of the Big Quiz are County Square shopping centre, P&O Ferries and Shepherd Neame who will organise the charity Spitfire bar.
