Pair facing attempted murder charge
TWO men have appeared in court charged with attempted murder following an incident in which a teenager suffered multiple stab wounds.
Michael Shaun Swansborough, aged 19, from Bridge Street, Wye, and Trevor Moore, 21, from Western Gardens, Willesborough, were both remanded in custody by Folkestone Magistrates yesterday (Wednesday) charged with the attempted murder of Lloyd Dawson Smith, 18.
Their court appearance follows an incident in the early hours of Saturday in an alleyway behind a newsagent’s shop in Hythe Road, Ashford.
Mr Smith remains in a critical condition in hospital.
Prosecuting lawyer Zara Pilcher told the court the victim is fighting for his life.
Moore was also charged with possessing an offensive weapon and stealing a black Nokia phone from Mr Smith.
Swansborough was also charged with possession of a bladed article, namely a knife.
They will appear again before Maidstone Crown Court on November 10 for a preliminary hearing.
Senior investigating officer Det Insp Lee Whitehead, said: “Officers have conducted searches in the area but we are still looking for various items believed to have been dumped in the area.”
“I ask that residents check their gardens and waste bins. If any suspicious items are discovered, please contact police immediately.”
