Pair fac­ing at­tempted mur­der charge

TWO men have ap­peared in court charged with at­tempted mur­der fol­low­ing an in­ci­dent in which a teenager suf­fered mul­ti­ple stab wounds.

Michael Shaun Swans­bor­ough, aged 19, from Bridge Street, Wye, and Trevor Moore, 21, from West­ern Gar­dens, Willes­bor­ough, were both re­manded in cus­tody by Folke­stone Mag­is­trates yes­ter­day (Wed­nes­day) charged with the at­tempted mur­der of Lloyd Daw­son Smith, 18.

Their court ap­pear­ance fol­lows an in­ci­dent in the early hours of Satur­day in an al­ley­way be­hind a newsagent’s shop in Hythe Road, Ash­ford.

Mr Smith re­mains in a crit­i­cal con­di­tion in hospi­tal.

Pros­e­cut­ing lawyer Zara Pilcher told the court the vic­tim is fight­ing for his life.

Moore was also charged with pos­sess­ing an of­fen­sive weapon and steal­ing a black Nokia phone from Mr Smith.

Swans­bor­ough was also charged with pos­ses­sion of a bladed ar­ti­cle, namely a knife.

They will ap­pear again be­fore Maid­stone Crown Court on Novem­ber 10 for a pre­lim­i­nary hear­ing.

Se­nior in­ves­ti­gat­ing of­fi­cer Det Insp Lee White­head, said: “Of­fi­cers have con­ducted searches in the area but we are still looking for var­i­ous items be­lieved to have been dumped in the area.”

“I ask that res­i­dents check their gar­dens and waste bins. If any sus­pi­cious items are dis­cov­ered, please con­tact po­lice im­me­di­ately.”
