Man in his 80s dies af­ter crash

A PEN­SIONER from Ash­ford has died af­ter crash­ing his car into a fence.

The man, who was in his 80s but has not been named, was taken to the William Har­vey Hospi­tal af­ter the ac­ci­dent be­hind Tesco Ex­press in Mill Court on Fri­day.

He died in the hospi­tal that af­ter­noon.

The ac­ci­dent hap­pened at about 11.50am and no other ve­hi­cles were in­volved.

Po­lice sealed off the road and were at the scene well into the af­ter­noon.

kmfm break­fast show pre­sen­ter John Web­ster, who was at the scene, said: “I saw a small red car hit the kerb and it ap­peared a man was slumped in­side.

“A queue of traf­fic built up be­hind the car.

“About four or five staff from the nearby doc­tor’s surgery came out to try to aid him.”
