Man in his 80s dies after crash
A PENSIONER from Ashford has died after crashing his car into a fence.
The man, who was in his 80s but has not been named, was taken to the William Harvey Hospital after the accident behind Tesco Express in Mill Court on Friday.
He died in the hospital that afternoon.
The accident happened at about 11.50am and no other vehicles were involved.
Police sealed off the road and were at the scene well into the afternoon.
kmfm breakfast show presenter John Webster, who was at the scene, said: “I saw a small red car hit the kerb and it appeared a man was slumped inside.
“A queue of traffic built up behind the car.
“About four or five staff from the nearby doctor’s surgery came out to try to aid him.”
