Why I won’t fill in ‘sur­vey’ on town

TO­DAY I re­ceived a sec­ond ‘sur­vey’ form with a cov­er­ing let­ter re­mind­ing me that I didn’t fill in the first one. The rea­son for not hav­ing filled it in? Firstly, much of it is ir­rel­e­vant to Ash­ford, it clearly be­ing a catch-all ques­tion­naire de­signed for “Any­town, UK” to save coun­cil­lors the trou­ble of seek­ing in­for­ma­tion for them­selves. Se­condly, I have seen very lit­tle ev­i­dence that the coun­cil al­lows the opin­ions of mere res­i­dents to af­fect their de­lib­er­a­tions and de­ci­sions. Thirdly, many peo­ple, my­self in­cluded, have never con­sid­ered (and there­fore have no firm opin­ions) about many of the top­ics listed,
