Run­ning takes place of smok­ing

STEVE Budd, 47, has re­cently re­placed smok­ing with run­ning and now plans to raise money for Macmil­lan Can­cer Sup­port.

He is work­ing to­wards a halfmarathon, in mem­ory of his sis­ter Sue who died of breast can­cer three years ago.

This will take place on Sun­day, March 8, in Lydd. Sev­eral 10km runs have also been or­gan­ised be­fore the big day, in­clud­ing one in Ash­ford next Fe­bru­ary.

Mr Budd, fromAsh­ford, said: “I have never done any­thing like this be­fore but am de­ter­mined to fin­ish the Lydd half-marathon for Sue. Af­ter I gave up smok­ing I put on weight but thanks to run­ning I have now dropped two stone. Macmil­lan were a fan­tas­tic source of sup­port.”
