Students’ idea to organise gig is growing
TWO school students have become music promoters, setting up concerts for local bands.
Joshua Heyburn and Ryan Lewis, Year 11 pupils from Ashford’s Norton Knatchbull School, have now booked their first show, with six groups and singers, which takes place just before Christmas.
Their promotional organisation is called Intimacy Gigs, which has its Inti-mate Christmas Launch Party on December 19.
Two more concerts are planned for January and February.
The pair say on their website: “We had intended to host a small gig in our hometown, Ashford, for old school friends and music fans.
“The idea came about last August and expanded from one band to six, one gig to several and it is going to become a reality in December.”
The first show is at Ashford School, East Hill, from 7pm. Entry is £10 for those aged 14plus and soft drinks are free all night.
The acts performing are Underground Heroes, The Suggestions, Hold Fire, The Getaway Team, Elephants and John Lally.
The second show is on January 23 from 7pm with the venue to be confirmed. The acts for that night are Apologies, I Have None; The Help Movement; Pull in Emergency; Vices and Jack Dedman.
The third gig is on February 20, with details to be confirmed.
