Stu­dents’ idea to or­gan­ise gig is grow­ing

TWO school stu­dents have be­come mu­sic pro­mot­ers, set­ting up con­certs for lo­cal bands.

Joshua Hey­burn and Ryan Lewis, Year 11 pupils from Ash­ford’s Nor­ton Knatch­bull School, have now booked their first show, with six groups and singers, which takes place just be­fore Christ­mas.

Their pro­mo­tional or­gan­i­sa­tion is called In­ti­macy Gigs, which has its Inti-mate Christ­mas Launch Party on De­cem­ber 19.

Two more con­certs are planned for Jan­uary and Fe­bru­ary.

The pair say on their web­site: “We had in­tended to host a small gig in our home­town, Ash­ford, for old school friends and mu­sic fans.

“The idea came about last Au­gust and ex­panded from one band to six, one gig to sev­eral and it is go­ing to be­come a re­al­ity in De­cem­ber.”

The first show is at Ash­ford School, East Hill, from 7pm. En­try is £10 for those aged 14plus and soft drinks are free all night.

The acts per­form­ing are Un­der­ground He­roes, The Sug­ges­tions, Hold Fire, The Get­away Team, Ele­phants and John Lally.

The sec­ond show is on Jan­uary 23 from 7pm with the venue to be con­firmed. The acts for that night are Apolo­gies, I Have None; The Help Move­ment; Pull in Emer­gency; Vices and Jack Ded­man.

The third gig is on Fe­bru­ary 20, with de­tails to be con­firmed.
