Hall stars with bat and ball
CHERITON and Sellindge skittled through Elham Valley B to win the first of three Division 2 matches played in the KCB Folkestone 6-a-side League sponsored by Jimmy Godden. Kavan Risby scored 28 as Elham batted first but he enjoyed little support as a slow start became a slow innings of 74 all out. Stuart Cook and Ryan Hall claimed a pair of wickets each, before Hall reached 27 with the bat. Mark Relf added 20 for Cheriton as they won with five overs spare. In the second match, Etchinghill bowled out newcomers Saltwood for 57. Ben Johnson and Kartik Twari took two wickets each and with Miles Perrin leading the reply with a quickfire 18, Saltwood were dismissed with four overs left. In the final match, Sibton Park B lost to Stowting despite Sibton reaching 109 all out. Gareth Mears scored 36, Jamie Keeler 24 and Scott Daughters 24, while Mark Jackson took 2-33. Stowting raced to 102-2 in the ninth over, with victory in their grasp, when three quick wickets left them teetering on the edge of defeat. Mark Jackson scored 31 and held his nerve to lead Stowting home with three balls to spare. Jamie Keeler and Dan Lodge each claimed two wickets. Folkestone B were left without an opponent when Hawkinge failed to show up.
