ASHFORD Soroptimists have been helping to pack Christmas gifts of hope in shoe boxes for an appeal organised by the local branch of Samaritan’s Purse. They will be sent to children from disadvantaged backgrounds in other countries, and a large quantity of knitted scarves, hats and gloves were added to some of the boxes. Soroptimists have prepared these gift boxes for many years and for the past two years have helped to check and prepare boxes at the warehouse ready to be loaded onto the truck to be sent abroad. They still urgently need more gifts that can be left at Unit 4, Chunnel Estate, Victoria Road, Ashford, on Monday to Friday between 10am and 2pm or 7pm and 9.30pm.
