Guide’s calmness wins award
KEEPING cool under pressure as her mum went into labour early has earned a teenager an award. Jessica Sacco of Bethersden has been recognised by the Girl Guides for her outstanding effort in dealing maturely with the emergency situation. Jessica was presented with her award by county commissioner Sue Sherlock during the annual gift service in front of 500 fellow Guides and their families in St Teresa’s Church on Sunday. Those present heard how after Jessica’s mum Sam went into labour early at their home in Church Hill the 13-year-old kept calm and helped her stepfather Chris Buckman and brother Joshua, two, by calling an ambulance. She then comforted her mother until Chris delivered baby Eleanor before the professionals arrived. Then Jessica calmly went off to lessons at Homewood School in Tenterden.
