TV ‘Nightmares’ hotel sold on
A SEASIDE hotel that featured in celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay’s programme has been sold to a former care home operator.
Richard and Helen Morgan have run the Sandgate Hotel at The Esplanade for the past two years, but sold up due to ill health and now plan to move back to Scotland.
They have sold the business to Kiki Cole, who has recently sold a care home. She plans to improve the success of the hotel.
Estate agent Andrew Bush, of estate agents Christie and Co, said: “Despite the economic climate our marketing generated strong interest.”
Offers in the region of £900,000 were sought for the property.
Gordon Ramsay filmed at the venue for his Kitchen Nightmares series in 2006, when it was run by Lois and Peter HamiltonSlade. He suggested the business should concentrate on serving fresh, locally caught seafood.
