Beaver colony cel­e­brates its mag­nif­i­cent seven

THE 6th Ash­ford Beaver Colony is cel­e­brat­ing the pre­sen­ta­tion of Chief Scout’s bronze awards to seven of its mem­bers. The high­est award that a Beaver Scout can earn is only pre­sented af­ter 24 dif­fer­ent ac­tiv­i­ties have been com­pleted. Nathan Fill, Oliver Law­ton, Adam Rawl­in­son, Han­nah Fo­ley, Jack But­ler, Peter Humphrey and Con­nor Ros­siter un­der­took a wide va­ri­ety of ac­tiv­i­ties in­clud­ing kite fly­ing, sleep­overs, first aid, sci­ence ex­per­i­ments and cook­ery as well as rais­ing more than £250 to­wards Kent Scouts’ Ex­pe­di­tion to The Repub­lic of Congo next sum­mer. The pre­sen­ta­tions were made at the colony’s Barn Platt head­quar­ters in front of fam­i­lies and friends. Leader Doreen Beach, said: “Usu­ally only one or two Beavers at a time achieve this award, seven is un­prece­dented. All have had a great deal of fun while work­ing for this.”
