THE Wye Business Association Christmas street party raised more than £2,000 on Friday, meaning there is enough money for another party next year. Fire fighters provided an engine at the lower end of Church Street, while stallholders included Amnesty International, Wye Footpath Society, Wye Arts and Wye Historical Society. Father Christmas put in an appearance and there was also a tombola, bottle stall and a barbecue. Wye Business Association chairman Ann Sutherland said: “We’re amazed and grateful that when the heavens opened and the rain poured down people didn’t scurry off. “In both true British and Wye spirit they carried on as if it was a midsummer’s day.”
