THE Canterbury Oast Trust has received a boost of more than £1,000 thanks to a generous donation from the ladies’ section of the London Beach Golf Hotel in St Michael’s.

The presentation, by captain Jenny Tyler to the trust’s fundraiser Terry Swan, was made during the section’s Christmas lunch and prize-giving last week.

The trust, which is based at the Rare Breeds Centre in Woodchurch, supports adults with learning difficulties.

Mrs Tyler explained: “I have a Down’s syndrome granddaughter aged five and this charity was close to my heart.”

The money was raised in a variety of ways.

Mrs Tyler said: “My daughter held a coffee morning for me and some friends held a quiz night in Bethersden.

“We also held a charity lunch with a raffle.

“Everyone was very supportive and we are most grateful.”
