Staff ex­cel­lence award for NHS men­tal health team

A TEAM from the William Har­vey hospi­tal was among the win­ners as the NHS Trust that runs men­tal health ser­vices across Kent and Med­way recog­nised the work of its more than 4,000 mem­bers of staff. The first Staff Ex­cel­lence Awards were held at Leeds Cas­tle, near Maid­stone. Mem­bers of the pub­lic, peo­ple who use the trust’s ser­vices, car­ers and NHS staff were en­cour­aged to nom­i­nate staff and vol­un­teers they felt had made a real dif­fer­ence to other peo­ple’s lives through their hard work and ded­i­ca­tion. Win­ner of the Team of the Trust Award was the ther­a­pies team based at the Arun­del Unit at the William Har­vey Hospi­tal in Ash­ford. “This highly mo­ti­vated and ded­i­cated team took the award for their client­cen­tred ap­proach to ther­apy, which al­ways aims to help each pa­tient re­alise their full po­ten­tial on the road to re­cov­ery.” Winning teams col­lected a tro­phy plus £400. Launch­ing the awards cer­e­mony, trust chief ex­ec­u­tive Erville Mil­lar said: “NHS staff rarely get the recog­ni­tion they de­serve for the won­der­ful work they do. “Th­ese awards were de­signed to go some way to­wards rec­ti­fy­ing that by ac­knowl­edg­ing and re­ward­ing those mem­bers of staff who, day in, day out, work tire­lessly, without com­plaint, and sim­ply get on with their jobs to make a real dif­fer­ence to peo­ple’s lives.”
