Nowhere to play as thieves take children’s house away
THIEVES have stolen a children’s play house from a primary school and dumped it in a ditch. Parents, teachers and children at Bethersden Primary School worked tirelessly over many months to raise the money to improve the outdoor play equipment installed earlier this year. But they arrived at school last Monday morning to find the play house had been taken and the toys stored inside it run over. Julie Perfect, chairman saw it as they walked past on their way to school on the Monday morning. Mrs Perfect said staff are working on the theory that thieves stole the £500 play house to sell or to give as a Christmas present and then dumped it when it proved too difficult to transport. She said: “It’s the little ones who suffer.” The school has raised an impressive £6,000 this year towards its target of £10,000 to pay for new equipment and necessary safety certificates. The theft has been reported to the police and anyone with information is asked to call south Kent police on 01303 289180.
