AN OFFICIAL thank you to the people who made this year’s KE Big Quiz possible took place in the Mayor’s parlour at Ashford Civic Centre last Friday. Mayor John Link thanked all those involved in the organisation of the event, held at Folkestone sports centre on October 25, before presenting them with thank you certificates. The charity quiz night attracted 43 teams this year, raising £4,190 for charity. The Friends of Folkestone Sports Centre, Find A Voice and the Kent Walking Bus all received a quarter share of the proceeds. The remaining share will be divided between the civic charities for Ashford and Shepway. It is hoped that many of those who were involved in this year’s event will join the community committee which has been created to help organise next year’s KM Big Quiz in South Kent. KM Big Quiz questionmaster Simon Dolby said: “The KM Community Committee needs extra people to join, either to formally sit on the committee and help plan the 2009 event, or to volunteer to assist with an aspect of the night or the run up to it.”
