SOL­DIERS met a top ra­dio pre­sen­ter when the South East’s reg­i­ment played a star­ring role in a na­tional show.

BBC Ra­dio 2’s Chris Evans vis­ited troops serv­ing with the 2nd Bat­tal­ion of The Princess of Wales’s Royal Reg­i­ment (2 PWRR) when he aired his Driv­e­time Show live from the bat­tal­ion’s base in Dheke­lia, Cyprus.

One Folke­stone sol­dier who met Chris Evans was Pri­vate James King who has served with B Com­pany 2 PWRR for three years.

Pri­vate King, 19, re­turned to Cyprus from Afghanistan last month af­ter a suc­cess­ful four­month tour of the coun­try.

He will spend Christ­mas in Cyprus but will be re­turn­ing to his mum and girl­friend in Folke­stone in time for New Year.
