Battle of Britain witnesses wanted

Kentish Express Ashford & District - - Remember When? -

DO YOU remember seeing a plane shot down during the Battle of Britain?

The Battle of Britain Museum in Hawkinge is hoping to record people’s memories of seeing planes meet their end in 1940.

A spokesman at the museum said that while museum volunteers had met many eyewitnesses in the past, they never took the opportunity to record their memories. They want to right that wrong and anyone who witnessed an aircraft being shot down or crashing, either British or German, wherever it may have been in the country, is asked to make contact with David Brocklehurst, chairman and historian at the museum in Aerodrome Road.

The museum is also on the hunt for an original Anderson shelter for its planned 1940 Dig for Victory Garden.

Contact them at kentbattleofbritainmuseum @bt inter or at the museum on 01303 893140.
