The most potholes in the county?

A CONCERNED resident believes his road could hold the record for the most potholes in a 100-metre stretch of street in the county.

Steve Kingsnorth from Woodchurch Road, Shadoxhurst sent us this picture taken outside his home where he says there are 25 large and deep holes in the road surface and most have been there since Christmas.

He said: “They are now much bigger that they were at the start. Potholing is very popular in Derbyshire. Is it soon coming to Kent?”

His wife Cathy, who is a cyclist, finds riding through the village a nightmare and no longer a pleasure as she has to stare at the road and be constantly alert for deep holes that could throw her from her bike.

Kent Highways are aware of the problems but say they face a huge backlog of potholes needing to be repaired across the county following two spells of severe winter weather since Christmas.

KCC spokesman Phil Scrivener said: “The message is bear with us.

“Extra money has been allocated for repairs and 15 additional road crews are working countywide to deal with repairing the potholes being reported.”
