Work­shops to help pupils play it safe

PUPILS from schools in Ash­ford and Shep­way bor­oughs will be put through their paces as part of a pro­gramme of work­shops or­gan­ised by EDF En­ergy Net­works to raise aware­ness of the po­ten­tial dan­gers of elec­tric­ity.

More than 1,400 pri­mary and ju­nior school pupils from across the county are ex­pected to at­tend the hard-hit­ting safety work­shops over the next few weeks to learn about the haz­ards of play­ing near sub­sta­tions and over­head power lines.

Among schools be­ing vis­ited dur­ing March and April are Sel­sted Pri­mary School, near Folke­stone; Pal­marsh Pri­mary, Hythe; Pluck­ley Pri­mary School; East Stour Pri­mary, Ash­ford and Ken­ning­ton Ju­nior School.
