Holiday Extras’ cash tonic for hospices
A HOLIDAY company has made a £5,000 donation to the Pilgrims Hospices as part of sponsorship for the charity’s Midnight Walk.
Last year Hythe-based Holiday Extras sponsored the first Midnight Walk and has decided to repeat the backing for this year’s event, which will see two separate strolls take place in Ashford and Deal.
After receiving the cheque hospice regional fund-raising manager Deborah Kellond said: “For Holiday Extras to donate such an amount is fantastic.
“Last year’s walk saw 17 members of the Holiday Extras staff walk the 10 kilometres around Deal, and we hope that the two events later this year attract even more interest.”
Cathy Beare, Holiday Extras’ group finance director, said: “We as a company are always looking to contribute to worth- while causes, and the Pilgrims Hospices is more than deserving.
“Their terrific work is impossible to put a price on, but we hope our donation will go some way to aiding the pursuance of their goals.”
The 2009 Midnight Walks are aiming to raise a total of £100,000 and will see volunteers navigate routes through Ashford on June 13 and Deal the week before.
