Walkers boost cancer charity
A SPONSORED walk organised by an Ashford woman raised more than £1,250 to help fight the most common form of cancer in men. Almost 100 walkers took part in Kent’s first 5k Walk for a Reason held at Maidstone’s Mote Park on Sunday in aid of The Prostate Cancer Charity. The event was organised by University of Kent student Rebecca Standing, 22, who lives in Ashford. She said: “It was a great, but very moving day. Some people were walking in memory of their loved one, which made the day very emotional.” The fund-raising total so far stands at £1,250, with more donations to come.
