Fashion chain is a victim of times
JOBS are expected to go at women’s clothing chain Principles, which has a branch at Ashford’s Designer Outlet. Up to 66 stores are expected to close nationwide, with the loss of 2,300 jobs, after administrators were unable to find a buyer. Debenhams will buy most of the stock, but the majority of staff are expected to lose their jobs. David Maddison, centre manager at Ashford Designer Outlet, said: “The Principles store at the outlet is currently trading and we have been informed that it will continue to do so for the next couple of weeks, at which point a decision about its future will be made.” The store at Gillingham’s Hempstead Valley Shopping Centre closed on Saturday.
