Puppy love boosts charity’s funds
MEET Darcy and Daisy, Ashford’s own pair of Guide Dog puppies. They are in training but also helping to boost funds for the charity. Shoppers at two of the town’s supermarkets were extra generous when the pups reported for duty for Guide Dogs for the Blind fund-raising stints, and helped collect £1,362. First Sainsbury’s and then ASDA allowed supporters of the charity, including guide dog owners, to set up tables in their foyers and the cash flowed in when shoppers were approached by the pair with waggy tails and doggy grins. Collection organiser Stephen Fryer said: “The need for guide dogs is increasing every year and we get no government grants so we are very grateful.”
