APPLEDORE is preparing for a big spring clean up.

Volunteers are being invited to donate a couple of hours on the morning of Saturday, March 28, to help with litter collection around the village.

Parish council chairman Frances Smith said: “We con- verge on the village hall where equipment and refreshments will be available.

“The borough council will pick up the debris the following week and we are expecting to collect at least as many sacks as last year because people are still throwing rubbish out of their cars.”

She added: “We collected drinks cans, plastic sandwich wrappers, plastic bottles, smokers’ debris and occasionally, very unpleasant items!”

Anyone wanting to help with the clean up should arrive at the village hall on March 28 at 10am.
