Per­form­ers join Gurkha fes­ti­val

THE Band of the Bri­gade of Gurkhas will be cel­e­brat­ing their 10th an­niver­sary fes­ti­val of mu­sic with three con­certs next month.

The band have over the past nine years in­vited guests from the world of mu­sic to ap­pear with them dur­ing the fes­ti­val.

This year they will be joined by the Can­ter­bury Choral So­ci­ety, who per­form on a reg­u­lar ba­sis in Can­ter­bury Cathe­dral to ca­pac­ity audiences.

Lo­cal singer Re­becca Robin­son will also be tak­ing to the stage along with the Bri­gade of Gurkha dancers.

The fes­ti­val is staged each year to help raise funds for The Gurkha Wel­fare Trust and Young Per­sons with Dis­abil­i­ties.

A DVD doc­u­men­tary has been made over the last four months chart­ing the his­tory of the fes­ti­val which con­tains footage of per­for­mances over the last 10 years and in­ter­views with peo- ple who have been in­volved in the fes­ti­val. The DVD is be­ing launched at this year’s fes­ti­val.

Tick­ets for the fes­ti­val are priced at £12 and at £10 with con­ces­sions avail­able. Spe­cial prices are on of­fer for the per­for­mance on Thurs­day, April 16. Tick­ets can be ob­tained by phon­ing 01304 366337 or 07902 610267.

The events take place on April 16, 17 and 18 at The Nye Hall, The Duke of York’s Royal Mil­i­tary School, Dover.
