Book week ad­ven­ture for pupils

AN AR­RAY of lit­er­ary char­ac­ters turned up at a pri­mary school last week.

Wit­ter­sham school’s an­nual book week saw pupils come dressed as their favourite char­ac­ters from po­etry.

Head teacher Ju­dith Thorn­ton said: “We had char­ac­ters from the Owl and the Pussy­cat, many nurs­ery rhyme char­ac­ters and Dr Seuss.

“Ev­ery year we hold a book week to en­cour­age chil­dren to have a love of books. We have a book fair and par­ents and peo­ple from the vil­lage come in and read with chil­dren.

“This year we had a cou­ple of folk singers also visit.”
