PARK Farm Beavers hosted the district’s star party. On Satur­day seven colonies trav­elled to Kingsnorth pri­mary school for an af­ter­noon of space ac­tiv­i­ties. More than 100 Beavers and their leaders were split into small groups for dif­fer­ent tasks rang­ing from paint­ing plan­ets and ex­plor­ing how rock­ets work to us­ing a bal­loon on a string and looking at tele­scopes. They also dis­cov­ered they could study Ash­ford parish church clock tower from the vil­lage by tele­scope. Dur­ing his talk, Drew Wa­gar from the Ash­ford Astro­nom­i­cal So­ci­ety showed a scale model of the uni­verse and de­scribed var­i­ous stars and plan­ets.
