Hospice bowled over with proceed from tournament
THE proceeds of an indoor bowls tournament that attracted 20 teams from across east Kent have been presented to the Pilgrims Hospice. Lympne Short Mat Bowls Club hosted the Les Newport Memorial Tournament at Lympne Village Hall in February. Mr Newport was a founder member of the Lympne club who decided that the proceeds from the tournament named after him would this year go to the hospice. Club captain Ron Gill presented a cheque for £400 to Vicky Hitchcock, a ward manager at the hospice.
