Moda makes short­list in shop con­test

AT­TEN­TION to de­tail, of­fer­ing some­thing a lit­tle bit dif­fer­ent and artis­tic dis­plays have given an in­de­pen­dent re­tailer an edge over his ri­vals in a na­tional com­pe­ti­tion. John Parry, who runs the Moda gift shop in Ton­tine Street, Folke­stone, has been short­listed as the best in­de­pen­dent trader in Lon­don, the South and the South East cat­e­gory for best re­tail dis­play. The awards, called The Greats, cel­e­brate gift re­tail­ing in the UK and are run by the Pro­gres­sive Gifts and Home mag­a­zine. Mr Parry said: “I am very pleased to have got this far. There is a very tough se­lec­tion process, which in­cludes send­ing a se­cret shop­per around. The judges are top peo­ple in the in­dus­try and many shops ap­ply. “It would be great to get this ac­co­lade and very good for busi­ness.” The win­ners will be an­nounced at the Royal Lan­caster Ho­tel in Lon­don on May 21.
