Folkestone A in double triumph
FOLKESTONE A completed the KCB Folkestone Indoor Cricket league and cup double on Sunday as they beat Sibton Park A by 23 runs in the cup final. Confident bowling from Ben Allon (231) and Dave Stewart (2-39) restricted Folkestone to a chasable score of 107 all out, as Nick Graham (24) and Stuart Graham (21) provided some resistance. Park, however, made a mess of their reply as they lost openers Stewart and Allon to the first two deliveries of the innings. Always playing catch up from that point, John Osbourne and Steve Hickmott both hit 22 as Park limped to 84 all out. In the Plate final, New Romney, playing their first game in the competition after two byes, fell three runs short as Hythe Green took the silverware. Tim Wise (34) top scored for the victors, as they posted 127-5, before Martin Smith’s 2-24 hampered New Romney’s reply. The Marsh side lost their last two wickets in the final over. ALAN BAKER, in his Rooster, fought off 10 other competitors to claim Redoubt Sailing Club’s ninth Frostbite Series race. Tracy and Gemma Amos finished second, followed by Yvonne and Brian Mumford. Fred Barrington took fourth while Keith Macy and Ian Hodge shared the honours for fifth spot.
