Zoom in on what’s best about town
CAN you take a single picture that best sums up Ashford?
Ashford’s Future is launching a photographic competition to sum up why Ashford is ‘Best Placed in Britain’.
From tomorrow (Friday) until May 1 entrants can submit a picture that best encapsulates the slogan.
Prizes include free Eurostar tickets, £300 worth of photographic vouchers and work experience with a professional photographer.
Ashford’s Future managing director Judith Armitt said: “The Ashford brand helps us to promote Ashford as a great place to live, work, visit and do business.
“But we want people to think about the brand on a more personal level and visualise the ways in which Ash- ford is best placed.”
Competition sponsors include Eurostar, the Kentish Express, Jacobs Engineering Group Inc and Snappy Snaps and judges’ chairman is wildlife photographer and Wye resident Steve Bloom.
Photos can be taken on any camera, including mobile phone, and the three age categories are under 12, 12 to 17 and 18 and over.
Entrants should submit one image, 1024 x 768 pixels (min), uploading it at www.ashfordbestplaced.co.uk/photo
The best five from each age group will be selected by the judges. The shortlist will be publicised online, in the Kentish Express and in an exhibition, and a winners’ display will be put up at County Square on June 13.
