So­ci­ety to per­form El­gar’s finest

ASH­FORD Choral So­ci­ety, un­der their con­duc­tor Mark Deller, will be giv­ing a per­for­mance of El­gar’s or­a­to­rio The King­dom in the Saga Pavil­ion in Sandgate this Satur­day at 7.30pm. The 130-strong choir and an or­ches­tra of 70 play­ers will be joined by so­prano Olivia Robin­son, mezzo Su­san Legg, tenor Neil Jenk­ins, and bari­tone Jeremy Huw Wil­liams. Writ­ten just a few years af­ter the com­poser’s much-loved Dream of Geron­tius, The King­dom was con­sid­ered by the con­duc­tor Sir Adrian Boult to be El­gar’s finest choral work. Tick­ets £18 and £12 (free for chil­dren) will be avail­able at the door on the night.
