Pick­ing a win­ner proves tough task

GREEN-FINGERED mem­bers of Ten­ter­den and District Hor­ti­cul­tural So­ci­ety en­joyed a suc­cess­ful spring show on Satur­day.

The show, held at the ju­nior school in Recre­ation Ground Road, saw 35 ex­hibitors dis­play­ing 252 en­tries.

Jackie Witcher, of the so­ci­ety, said: “It was the best spring show in years, that was the com­ment from the judges.

“They also said that the stan­dard of en­tries was ex­cep­tion­ally high and they had a dif­fi­cult time choos­ing the win­ners.”

Win­ners in­cluded: The So­ci­ety’s Cup, Nigel Clark; The Robert Gorham Cup, Sheila Ma­son; The Martin Cup, Jackie Witcher; The Howard Smith Cup, Ann Achow; The Dur­rant Cup,Jackie Witcher; So­ci­ety’s Rose Bowl, best exhibit in flo­ral art, Bruna Christoff; Pat Billing­ton Cup, Lindy Bates; Chil­dren’s spring cup, Thomas Wil­ton and The Fisher Cup, Nathaniel Brooks.
