FOLKESTONE Optimists ladies kept their promotion hopes alive after securing a 3-1 win against Old Loughtonians in East League Division 1 South. Folkestone started strongly and opened the scoring when Lucy Anderson and Polly Wittleton combined to set up Zoe Hoare, who fired home. Hoare then quickly added her second after latching on to a loose ball in the D and firing home. The home side looked to find a way back into the game and despite the best efforts of Folkestone goalkeeper Amy Bumstead, they managed to pull a goal back before halftime. In the second half, Lauren Geddes and Laura Brazier performed well at the back for Folkestone to foil opposition attacks. Folkestone then made the points safe when Wittleton played the ball into the path of Lucy Anderson, who rounded the keeper and slotted home.
