McBain shines to win medal

CAROL McBain won the March monthly medal com­pe­ti­tion held by the Home­lands Golf Club ladies’ sec­tion on Satur­day.

McBain scored a net 60 play­ing off a 29 hand­i­cap. Sec­ond was Jane Daw­son (h22) with a net 63.

Satur­day af­ter­noon saw the yearly com­pe­ti­tion be­tween the PUGS so­ci­ety and the Home­lands team. The win­ners this year were the PUGS by six points.

On Sun­day, the club held their Hall of Fame qual­i­fy­ing Stable­ford com­pe­ti­tion, where the win­ner goes on to play in the re­gional fi­nal at Hove on Au­gust 20. The win­ner was Steve Collins with 45 points (h18). Run­ner-up was David Fletcher (h12) with 41.

Sheila Woodgate (h19) won the Ce­cil Leitch 5-club stable­ford with a su­perb 38 points held by Ash­ford Golf Club ladies’ sec­tion.

Jenny Belsham (h26) was run­ner-up with 36. Woodgate will go to the fi­nal at Rochester and Cob­ham Golf Club in June. The Fri­day March Medal was won by Chris Collins (h19) with a net 70. Debbie Huck­stepp (h17) won the Satur­day medal with 75.

Peggy Fen­ner (h31) had an ex­cel­lent round in the March Stable­ford, winning the Bronze Divi­sion with 43 points. Elaine Joss (h21) came sec­ond with 34. The Sil­ver Divi­sion had two con­tes­tants on 38 points, with Chris Collins (h19) beat­ing Jackie Luetch­ford (h19) on count­back.

The March nine-hole Stable­ford was won by Ros Gill (h29) on 20 points.

Pam Mills, the new ladies’ sec­tion cap­tain of the Lon­don Beach GC, held her drive-in re­cently.

Pam is a founder mem­ber and plays to a hand­i­cap of 20. Her char­ity is the Kent Air Am­bu­lance.
